Quiche Shortcrust
- Sift together:
- 1.5 c white flour;
- 1 c rolled oats;
- pinch salt (if unsalted shortening is used, 1/2 t salt);
- Cut 1/2 c (one stick) shortening or butter into flour/oats mixture until the size of coarse crumbs.
- Mix in lightly: 4-5 T cold water.
- Roll out dough and line a pie dish with it.
- Prick holes in the bottom and cook at 375 degrees for 10 minutes.
- Fill and cook per the filling's requirements.
Cheese Custard Quiche Filling
- In a blender, mix well:
- 2 jumbo eggs
- 2 c shredded cheddar or longhorn cheese
- 2T milk
- 1/2 t seasoned salt
- 1/4 t basil
- 1/8 t papper
- 1/8 t dry mustard
- 1/8 t garlic powder
- 1/8 t paprika
- Line bottom of pre-baked pie crust with cooked sausage, ham or bacon, if desired.
- Spread egg/cheese mixture on top.
- Cook all at 375 dgrees for 30 minutes, until brown on top.
