Circle Skirts and Variations by Many-Colored-LandTMA custom-made skirt is the answer if:
I am pleased to be able to offer my belly dance students the chance to purchase elastic-waisted circle skirts made to their measurements and specifications. These prices include LABOR (two or more fittings, fabric prep, sewing and hemming) and notions (thread, bias tape, elastic, trunk fabric). The cloth can be ordered for you but then the price increases to include the cost of the cloth.
Many-Colored-Land works with woven fabric only. Knits and stretchy fabric won't give a reliable result.
Many-Colored-Land is not trying to compete with Indian Imports or e-Bay. They offer custom fit and long-lasting construction, not a rock-bottom price on one-size-fits-all from thin fabric. The skirt pieces are hung so that the bias stretches out before the seams are cut, not after. The seams and hem are SEWN and finished properly so that the skirt will not pull apart, and the elastic in the waistband is inserted into a casing (not attached to the skirt body) so that the elastic can be easily replaced when it stretches out of shape. Many costume pieces available commercially are SERGED together in a narrow seam at the edges; this keeps costs low but often results in seams that fray and pull apart after a few wearings. It is not necessary to buy $20/yd silk to get a beautiful skirt; the discount fabric tables at Baers, Walmart and similar stores often have beautiful drapey fabrics for $1-$2 yd that can be made into a great skirt. You can reach Many-Colored-Land emailing or calling Ruric-Amari or - bring any swatches or questions you have to class. Not every fabric is suitable for a circle skirt! so unless you are very sure of what you are doing, get a swatch sample from the fabric store and consult with us BEFORE buying! |
