The Clifton Center is a wonderful location for a dance studio!

The beautiful and historic Clifton Center at 2117 Payne St, Louisville KY 40206 ( intersection of Frankfort, Clifton and Payne) is in the heart of the lively Frankfort Ave restaurant and arts district. Easy access from all major interstates in Louisville Metro area, plenty of safe parking, AND accessible via THREE bus lines!

If you travel down Frankfort, your landmark is is the Caffe Classico on the corner of Frankfort and Clifton at the traffic light.

  • Turn onto Clifton (there's only one way to turn);
  • Drive past the Caffe Classico building;
  • You will see the St. Francis of Rome complex on the right with the main entrance to the Center in the middle.

Come through the main glass door into the Center and turn left (for elevator) or right (for stairs) to the third floor. The studio is Suite 305.

The Center has several parking lots and street parking available. The Center is also served by three TARC bus routes: 31, 19 and 15.

Here is our summary of the most frequently used routes:

From points East (Middletown, Hurstbourne, I-265 or I-264) using 1-64W and Grinstead exit:

  1. Exit from I-64 at Grinstead Drive (Exit 8).
  2. At the bottom of the ramp turn right (onto Grinstead) and merge into the left lane.
  3. Take the first left onto S.Peterson and up the cobblestone hill.
  4. Turn left onto Frankfort (S. Peterson ends at Frankfort).
  5. Turn left onto Clifton Ave at the second stoplight (landmark, Caffe Classico). If you cross the railroad tracks, you've gone 100 feet too far.
  6. Immediately after the Caffe Classico building you will see the St. Francis of Rome complex on your right, with the Clifton Center main entrance in the middle.

From points East (Middletown, Hurstbourne, I-265 or I-264) using 1-64W and Mellwood exit:

  1. Exit from I-64 at Mellwood Avenue (Exit 7).
  2. At the bottom of the ramp, turn right onto Mellwood (one way street) staying in the right hand lane.
  3. At the first traffic light turn right onto Frankfort Avenue.
  4. Go straight through four traffic lights and over the railroad tracks.
  5. The first light after the railroad tracks is Clifton Ave (landmark, Caffe Classico). Turn right on Clifton.
  6. Immediately after the Caffe Classico building you will see the St. Francis of Rome complex on your right, with the Clifton Center main entrance in the middle.

Since Mellwood is one-way, your return trip will be back down Frankfort past Mellwood intersection to the next light at Story Ave, make a left (ignoring the ramp back onto I-64W), take another left (Spring Street), then another left onto Mellwood, which will put you at the ramp going back EAST on I-64. OR make a right onto Frankfort, a right onto Peterson, then a right onto Grinstead, which will take you to I-64 E.

From points West or South (Indiana, I-65 or downtown Louisville) via I-64E towards Lexington:

  1. Exit from I-64 at Story Avenue (exit 7).
  2. Turn right onto Story Avenue (one way) and merge into left lane.
  3. Left at first traffic light onto N Spring St.
  4. Left at the second traffic light onto Payne (landmark, Spring Street Grill).
  5. Continue for several blocks to Clifton (first major street on the left). The Clifton Center will be visible on your left as you approach the intersection. Turn left.
  6. You will see the St. Francis of Rome complex on your left, with the Clifton Center main entrance in the middle.

Since Story is one-way, your return trip will be west on Frankfort (landmark Caffe Classico) past Mellwood intersection to the next light at Story Ave, staying in the middle lane. Make a left onto Story and immediately get into the right hand land and take the ramp back onto I-64W.

From other points via I-71:

  1. Take Zorn Avenue exit ramp (exit 2).
  2. At the bottom of the ramp, turn right (if you came from I-71 S) or left (if you came from I-71 north) onto Zorn. Do NOT drive towards the river, or towards River Road.
  3. Continue down Zorn for one mile. It becomes Hillcrest when it crosses Brownsboro. Continue.
  4. Cross the RR tracks and turn right onto Frankfort Avenue.
  5. Continue on Frankfort Avenue for about 1 mile. Turn left at the stoplight at Clifton (landmark, Caffe Classico).
  6. Immediately after the Caffe Classico building you will see the St. Francis of Rome complex on your right, with the Clifton Center main entrance in the middle.
