American Tribal Style belly dance is an art form steeped in its own history and philosophy. It draws from the cultural dances along the Romany Trail, creating its own vocabulary of moments set in a system of improvisational cues and transitions. The dance highlights the lusciousness of group dynamics presented in a rich and hypnotic form.

Noon- 4 PM: THE BASICS: THIS, THAT, and WHAT IT ALL MEANS

Teresa presents history, philosophy and steps including ATS dance vocabulary. We will look at body lines, presentation and articulation and how they relate and distinguish this dance form from Egyptian style belly dance. Slow and fast movements will be covered as well as transitioning through the steps and putting it together with the proper music. Here we will also cover the basics of cueing and improvisation. ($60)

7:30- 11 PM: DINNER and DANCE CONCERT

Dinner at 7:30 with a buffet catered by Ramsi. The dance concert starts at 9 pm. The dance concert will feature Teresa, Ruric-Amari, Samovar and Anu. ($15)

Noon - 2 PM: ADVANCING ACROSS THE FLOOR

This master class will cover more advanced combinations and group work. Dancers will learn how to use the floor to create facing changes and to shift the focus within the group. Variations on fading, exchange of dancers through the chorus and frontline will be explored. We will cover Chico 4 corner Fade into the group Sevillanas. ($30)
