Balance, like all dance items, must be consistently practiced. You do not wake up one day with extraordinary balancing super powers, you slowly develop the ability to isolate your head and center from the rest of your body. The best way to practice is to incorporate practice into your everyday. Find something like a cup, book, bottle, or dish and put in your head and proceed with your day. Become comfortable with everything including walking, sitting, spinning, washing, and even eating. The more you can do with a cup on your head, the better your balance, control and overall prop usage will be.
