Purpose: To teach the movement Water Bearer.
Contents: Includes a step by step break down of the Water Bearer.
This is a lovely tribal step I learned from Teresa Tomb of Mecca Dance. It is simple in line, lyrical in execution, and remains one of my favorites. This segment includes coming up onto your toes, eye movement, breakdown of the tribal chest circle and the full Water Bearer combination drilled start to finish.
Except for the eye movement on the first plunge – is this not fcbd’s® Camel Step?
Very true, I believe they are similar. I am not ATS certified although I have been studying with many Tribal greats like Carolena, Rachel, and Teresa Tomb of Lexington for much of my 10 year career. This particular step, I learned from Teresa many years ago and it just stuck with me. She likes to make her own delightful variations using the concepts laid down by Carolena. Like me she loves Indian dance and often makes small changes through eye or hand movements. However, I do believe language is important so I will be more careful to make the distinction that these clips are my own hodgepodge of Tribal techniques to teach my students coordination through their arms, feet, and belly.
